Welcome to Peka Digital Library, a digital platform created and maintained by the Peka Digital Library team in collaboration with the Amhara Association in Seattle. Our mission is to foster connection, share knowledge, and advocate for accessible education within our community.
We are a dedicated group of volunteers who are working together to help education in Ethiopia. By providing access to textbooks, research materials, and educational resources online, we could help fill gaps in education and allow students and teachers to access quality materials despite the lack of infrastructure.
We are focus on creating an online education platform offers a significant opportunity to reach students and teachers who might otherwise face barriers to education.

Volunteering as a teacher: Sharing expertise and mentoring students is a powerful way to directly impact the learning experience of young people.
Contributing to video and audio production: Many students benefit from diverse types of learning materials, and by helping to create educational content, we can ensure that resources are engaging, accessible, and effective.
Making a donation: Financial support helps maintain and expand the library’s offerings, ensuring that more students can benefit from the resources we provide.
Joining the Educational Sponsor Program: Providing financial assistance to students in need helps remove one of the major barriers to education and ensures that all learners have access to the tools they need to succeed.
By working together, we can make education more accessible and create a lasting impact in our community.
Creating a digital library with the primary goal of helping children in Ethiopia, where educational materials are scarce and schools and libraries are often destroyed or inaccessible, can be a powerful tool for empowering children and improving educational outcomes.
Mission Statement:
To provide accessible, high-quality digital educational resources to children in Ethiopia, empowering them with knowledge, fostering lifelong learning, and overcoming barriers created by limited access to traditional schooling materials. Through innovation and technology, we aim to build a digital library that ensures every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
The mission of Peka Digital Library is truly commendable, and it plays a vital role in empowering the community by providing free, high-quality educational resources. By offering KG-12th grade courses in Amharic and English videos and textbooks, we are making education more accessible and tailored to the needs of students in our community.
This initiative is vital because the Amhara region, like many parts of Ethiopia, faces various obstacles that hinder children’s access to education, such as limited infrastructure, lack of school resources, displacement, and socio-economic factors. The Peka Digital Library offers a solution by providing online resources that can be accessed remotely, helping bridge the educational gap and supporting children in learning even when traditional schooling may not be available.
To help bridge the educational gap and support children in learning even when traditional schooling may not be available, we are exploring two key solutions:
1. Offline Digital Resources: In many regions, internet connectivity is limited or unreliable. To address this, we aim to provide downloadable educational materials—including textbooks, instructional videos, and interactive lessons—that can be accessed without an internet connection. These resources can be preloaded onto USB drives, external hard drives, or local servers, and distributed to schools, community learning centers, or trusted local leaders. This ensures students have continuous access to high-quality learning content, regardless of connectivity.
2. Solar-Powered Learning Centers: Power instability is another barrier to consistent learning. By equipping learning centers with solar-powered systems, we can ensure access to digital resources even during frequent power outages. These centers can host low-power devices like tablets, laptops, or digital projectors, enabling students to continue their studies in a reliable and sustainable environment.
Together, these solutions create a resilient educational ecosystem that empowers students to learn anytime, anywhere.
The Peka Digital Library is a collaborative initiative launched by members of the Amhara Association in Seattle in partnership with the Peka team. Our mission is to tackle the pressing educational challenges facing the Amhara region of Ethiopia, where millions of children remain out of school.
Through the power of digital innovation, the Peka Digital Library is working to improve access to quality education by providing engaging, relevant, and easily accessible learning resources. Our platform offers a wide range of materials—from textbooks and video lessons to interactive tools—designed to support students from underserved communities and ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to learn and grow.
